My first impression of Montreal is almost kaleidoscopic. I was in and out in just a day, so all the impressions are basically first!
The airport is too big. It was a L O N G walk from the plane to the first people mover. I wish I’d been wearing different shoes.
Once I got through that ordeal, customs was a breeze. I got through that quickly, and met Terry, our Fearless Leader, who guided me through the transit system to get all the things done – mostly setting up a bank presence. I was really impressed by how nice and polite everybody was.
After the bank, we had lunch at a small café, and then walked to the convention center. This took us through a somewhat rundown neighborhood, which made me sad.
But the convention center! It’s HUGE! It made the airport look small. We can do whatever we want (that’s legal) – there’s plenty of room. It has its own Metro stop, and there are bunches of hotels clustered around it, some with underground passages to the center.
After the convention center, it was metro and bus back to the airport, where Terry and I said goodbye. I headed for the security, and eventually, home.
I did enjoy the city; I had fun. Spending time in the convention center, and pointing out possibilities to one another was a great time!
