Help Wanted - Party People

Montreal 2027 will have a major presence at the Seattle Worldcon.  We will have many parties!  Much parties!  Meat parties!  And our plans include asking people to volunteer for assisting us in our party aspirations.  We have several positions available we'd love to have help for.  Our shifts are all 3 hours (but you can volunteer for more).

Roles available

Party Ambassadors - This is primarily a social job.  You will need to be comfortable talking to people you don't already know and will need to have enthusiasm for our bid.  Knowing facts about our bid is a plus.  This is a sitting and/or standing job.  You will be required to wear your Party Ambassador ribbon during your shift.  You may be expected to do minor clean up or serving if the Host is overwhelmed but no heavy lifting (unless you're willing).  This is an evening job with different shifts available.

Host - You're the boss of the party.  You decide when to refresh the refreshments, you tip the hotel staff delivering ice, you maintain the vibe of the party by stepping in to defuse confrontations, you answer food/beverage questions, you scramble to find extra help if yours doesn't show up, you call for garbage removal, you get it.  You'll be assisted by the Party Maven but you are the person expected to talk to Hotel security if they show up.

Set Up And Clean Up - You're gonna shape the party environment.  You arrange the chairs, make sure Housekeeping has been allowed in to clean us up, check to see that we have all the supplies to party with are out and arranged, load the cooler and refrigerator with stored items that need to be cooled, restock bid supplies, straighten the decorations and generally make us look good to prospective voters and attendees.  This is a physical job.  You will need the ability to lift soft drink flats, bend over to pick things up and generally be able to tidy our party suite.  This is an afternoon job, non-attendee facing and may not take a full 3 hour shift to do.

Costco Sherpa - This is primarily offsite as a shift and times will vary.  You will not only be going to Costco.  You'll also get to visit grocery stores, maybe even a store like Fred Meyer.  You will shop the list you're given, need some common sense about substitutions and quantities, need access to a vehicle you can drive and the ability to unload/load said vehicle.  You will need the ability to PAY WITH YOUR OWN MONEY for these items with immediate reimbursement available from our Treasurer when receipts are presented.  Bonus points for being willing to make trips during the convention days for restocking.
